Hi all my NoSH BoDY friends!
It's been awhile since I have been able to write because let's face it, being a mom, wife and creating a company is all hard work. I have to always look at my life and tell myself my family needs me right now and maybe NoSH will have time later, as I go to bed at night writing recipes in my head. I'm also old school too and handwrite everything and change it by crossing things out and scribble on pages. It's what makes me comfortable. Yes, this is very dated and "old school". Going back to our roots a little before the hustle bustle of todays world really is essential sometimes. I'm totally one who loves a lot of the old school ways. Reality thought has made myself be self taught to design my own website and edit it. I built it and am still working on it all the time because it's just me doing it and it's never all done. Sometimes it drives me crazy to be in the middle of something and not get back to it for days because I just can't.. Part of this is that I design my own labels and send them out to a company to add some finishing touches and print. All my recipes are all me....no one else. I read all the time about ingreditents when I'm not doing the mom, wife thing because it is where I am calm. I write and rewrite, I test and retest. I perfect and test again. I study it, I make sure it is all good to go to production because I want the best for myself and my family. My creative outlet is my happy place and sharing it with others is just the organic grown cherry on top! So back in the olden days and I mean old, people farmed and grew fresh produce and raised their own animals, things were very different and it was literally farm to table. Not a lot of gourmet going on. A trip into town going to the General Store for your sundries or toiletries were made much different. First of all nothing tasted very good, like toothpaste and for the skin, the balms and elixers were made with alcohol to keep it fresh and keep most things anticeptic. Anyway long of the short is we have come a long way. We have learned so much for the better and worse over those years. We have modern medicine which is amazing and so many way to say alive so much longer because back then, you get the flu you die. As we came more into the modern ways and things started to get added to our shelves so did preservatives. Foods that could last months and months and beauty products and children's items that lasted for a year or more. Over time we have seen an increase in cancer, we have seen illness in children and things that never existed and so many men and women who are infertile. It makes you wonder how much of this is just too much for our bodies. I truly believe we were meant to be and live more pure. Were we meant to have so many of these chemicals and preservatives that are put into bottles and then we are putting it on our children's skin and our skin being absorbed into our bodies. All these junk foods, canned foods, boxed foods, fast foods, the list goes on. I think we need to all start to do our best to think fresher, things made naturally and detoxify our families. There are so many people out there who say it's too expensive but I know for a fact that some of this is less expensive because people don't prioritize how their money is spent. They put value in the wrong places. Your children, your partner and yourself...you mean something to this world. You don't need another throw rug or shower curtain. The cute gadget I'm sure is great or the $1 bin x 10 items....anyway, you get my drift. If you could go into your bathroom or your kitchen right now and throw away all the stuff that was chock full of harmful preservatives would you....or could you? Let's go back to the basics. Less is more, it's the same as when you declutter your life and choose what is important to you. Do this for your health, inside and out, retrain the thought process for our children that fresh is good, it has to start with us. Mental food for though! Shalene
