So you know how to wash right, you have been doing it your whole life. I'm sure you've done it all too, bar soap, liquid soap, washcloths, loofas, scrubs, you name it....we've tried it. We feel that lather, the frothy feeling all over and the scent that stays with us after we get out and dry off, we are clean, we think we know this because we feel it and smell it and this is what we were taught.
As I have done a ton of research I have found so many things we thought we should feel or sense are so misleading. That maybe we aren't suppose to feel a soap make a lasting feeling of squeaky clean skin and smelling it after drying the skin. When I was making NOSH BODY WASH had a lot of friends and local contacts to test products and give me feedback. One of the first things I heard is the foam doesn't work on my loofa or wash mitt. Ok, so some of you love your bath accessories but I'm here to tell you...loose them LOOSE the loofa, OMIT the Mitt. I'm sorry, the amount of bacteria and dead skin being held inside those things is really not good for you. Even if you clean them all the time, there are so many things in them...I could go on and on. If you feel you must use a wash cloth for dirty areas like the bottom of the kids feet to scrub a little harder please do not hang that back up to dry and reuse. Place it in the wash after each use to avoid bacteria. Is this causing extra laundry, what is a wash cloth a day in the grand scheme of things, and again that only if you must. The foam will soak right into the loofa or mitt and not actually get absorbed into the actual skin. You don't need use those accessories to get clean. Huffington Post ran an excellent article about bacteria in those types of things and this is not what we want to do, this is what we are trying to get away from. Things that are harmful to us. What you need to do is gently exfoliate the skin a few times a week, wash first, turn the water off and scrub gently in circular motions going upward and moving towards the heart. Turn the water back on and gently rinse away. That is all you need to get the dead skin off, otherwise you are doing damage to the skin itself and you want to heal and nourish. Now back to washing the skin. You should be using your good old hands, yes, what mother nature gave you to cleans the skin. The great thing with NOSH BODY WASH is it is safe to use on your face, naturally you do not wash your eyes with soap only around the eye area along the bone, but it is gentle enough for your whole body. I am actually able to wash both of my children hair with NOSH BODY WASH too. You should feel light and not a heavy feeling on the skin, a fragrance while you shower but not something that stays lasting after you pat your skin dry. Did you catch that, pat. You pat the skin or gently use the towel and kind of squeeze the water off the top layer. Again, rubbing the skin and irritating the skin is not good for the skin. The skin is delicate and if you want it to look good you can't scrub and rub. If you use NOSH BODY to exfoliate you may not feel the need to moisturize that day since it's very hydrating. If you are washing the skin with NOSH BODY you should feel lightly cleansed and refreshed all over, you may have a light linger of scent if you have an essential oil in your wash but it won't and shouldn't be strong and overpowering. It should give an uplifting feeling while you bathe. I hope you enjoyed this and let me know your thoughts on this blog. I'll be back soon to talk skin hydration and sleep. Cheers to good health and good skin, Shalene Bain Owner & Creator of NOSH BODY
