My goal in life are my kids, my job it protect them. I want to give them the best shot at being healthy, trying to prevent them from cancers, kidney, liver disease and other illness. I feel as though some of these are caused by the absorption of things into the bloodstream, by what we touch or put on us, by what’s absorbed into our body through the skin.
We are all not perfect, we don’t live in a perfect world. Everything around us has been slowly deteriorating on many levels. I fear for the future, I fear for my children and their children. Medicine is getting better but our lifestyle choices are getting worse. We are creating our own demises. I sometimes wonder why there’s so much fear in holistic medicine or eastern medicine. The Chinese have been practicing acupuncture since the beginning of time. In Native American and other cultures they use tattooing as not only art but to help alleviate pain. They mark areas of pain on the body, using a sharp instrument and natural man made ink from fruits and other natural plants of the land to heal and aid in pain. Where has our culture gone wrong.
I walk down the isles of a large store where people shop, they have a whole basket full of items, from clothing, home goods to skincare. I think to myself, do they have a want for these items or a need for the items in the basket. Are they adding things to their already decorated home, are they buying that skincare and using it from start to finish? Lately I myself find myself putting things in my basket, items I like and think about it as I walk. Most of the time when I’m to the front I realize that I have no purpose buying half the stuff so out it goes. I myself an trying to simplify my life in order to create a more positive environment. I was guilty of seeing something and just buying it because it was cute or wanting to try something, then it collected or I had little to no use for my purchase.
When it comes to your home and your skincare, Why a soap for the kids and one for mom and one for dad. Ok, I’ll be the first to admit, I’m married to the man who is a creature of habit and will never change, but my children and I opt to you organic and natural. To me a preservative is adding a chemical to prolong the life of something that can sit on a shelf for a long time, not spoiling. Then I go and think about food. About my veggies. What if they stopped having fresh produce or fruits. What if the world turns to a world full of preserved foods! There nothing better than something fresh, something that you even grow in your own yard and eating this.
I recently experienced this with my 4 year old daughter. She grew strawberries and the excitement was amazing! She also has parsley from school that was a tiny dying sprig but is now a bush! She goes out into our yard and eats a leaf and says to me that’s it’s yummy mommy, I’m eating fiber. She’s hysterical!
My son has many issues and if I went and told you the list this blog would be a novel and not a blog. He has had several skin issues and we couldn’t find out the root cause. Most of his health concerns where minor except a few.
I actually created the Nosh Body Gentle Body Wash formulated for him but it’s my favorite and my number 1 seller. It’s oatmeal infusion makes the foam feel rich and luxurious. I wash my children's hair with it because it doesn’t irritate their eyes, I use it on their face and body, as well as on my own. I have friends who use it to shave so I started to and it works great, It’s just that good! I swear it’s like a mini spa experience every time I bathe. I can feel and sense the difference in quality from organic based products. Why am I going to buy from the shelf of the store when I replace my wash about every 2 months anyway, and I get it fresh. I encourage you to try with my first creation, the NOSH BODY ORGANIC GENTLE BODY WASH it's made fresh. I mean come on are you grabbing the expired milk at the store?
Food for thought.

When I think of myself as a kid my mind goes back to the old days, the 70's and growing up then was just so different then now. Now a days there's so much going on daily. I see our children with that constant need for everything now, instant gratification. What I feel is the saddest part of growing up now is my children not getting the chance to explore and have a sense of freedom. As parents we are overly stressed and have so much anxiety from what we read and see going on in the world. We now drive and hover over our children's every move. We make it a point to take our children to structured enviroments to play or to socialize in activities that are "safe", taking away a lot of imaginative time and time for them to grow without us watching their every move. When was the last time you saw a 5 year old alone walking down the street or at a park with no one else? Well, back in my day this was completely normal. It's hard to believe how much has changed in that amount of time but this is now and we have to roll with the times.
Going back to when I was just a 5 year old little girl, I remember a really good friend of mine, her mom was telling my mom about a bad reaction her daughter had to a popular bubble bath of that era. She was red, irritated and itchy in areas that for a little girl is the worst. I remember myself getting a little red in my private areas after bathing in this same popular bubble bath, so this meant no bubbles for a long time. Bubble Baths have tons of chemicals and things to create and make long lasting bubbles, not to mention a long shelf life in the grocery stores. There are so many things that make them irritate young children sensitive skin.
Fast forward almost 40 years and it's still a topic amongst moms. I had a conversation about a year ago with a friend of mine who has two little girls and we were talking about the same problem. How could so much in the world change but Bubble Bath was almost the same. There are plenty of companies that claim they are natural and maybe they are or that they are safe and maybe they are safe for the environment but on children and sensitive areas we were still finding that our girls got red and irritated. Eventually this does change and kids grow out of their sensitivities but do we have to take bubble bath time away until then...well not anymore!
Nosh Body has finally created a child friendly bubble bath that is organic and vegan with no perfume, dyes, chemicals, preservatives! It is mostly plant based and biodegradable so it is earth friendly too. This has by far been my favorite project and took me a very long time to write the perfect recipe. I love how luscious the bubbles are. They are long lasting and my kids have ZERO reactions! They sit and play in the tub for 30 minutes sometimes or more. I had given test products to a few of my friends and they too had nothing but positive things with the Nosh Body Bubble Bath, including my friend with the two girls. I use it myself all the time and love pairing it with my favorite Nosh Body Gentle Body Wash that is infused with oatmeal and are made with the BEST therapeutic essential oils from one of the oldest and best around. I promise to never skimp on what I use. I use only the best I can get because I want the best to be out there for my family and for yours. It's not about how much I can put out for the least amount I put in, it's what can I put in that is the best period. I hand make it all in small batches to control the quality and everything is made with so much care.
I really hope you try the NEW Nosh Body Vegan Bain Bubble, I absolutely LOVE this and I'm 100% convinced you will too!
You can always contact me if you have questions about my products or would like to try Nosh Body. I make it by request so it is fresh and ready for use as soon as it gets to you.
Here's to the right kind of future for our children, we can't change everything but we can change adding chemicals to their skin and ours. Make a difference today!

Today we are going to go on a journey....we will explore outside the box and Down into the Rabbit Hole. It's no wonder they hang out down there, they get to munch on the freshest carrots from underground. Those little creatures know a lot about vitamins and what's healthy. I know not everyone loves carrots. Personally I love them best raw, you know the way you're suppose to eat them. And of course dipped in something really delicious like ranch! Ok, how about hummus that's better for you, anyway either or, I have a little dirt on our old friend the carrot and it's time to start pulling that rabbit back out of our hats!
Ok, all joking aside, I am here today to share with you something I am currently using and I have noticed a difference in my skin and the way I feel. At first when I created my spritz I will tell you, it didn't smell as fabulous as my other creations but I knew there was importance in keeping with it. I kept with it and I have learned to love it for so many reasons and really....it's not that bad. What I'm talking about is Carrot Seed Oil, it's a very unusual oil in it's scent and most people find it unpleasant. It is very earthy and it strong, but you have to smell past it for it's many benefits and it's worth the effort and trying.
Carrot Seed Oil is truly amazing! It is naturally detoxifying, has antioxidants, is an anti-inflammatory, a disinfectant, helps with anxiety and stress, treats arthritis, can lower your blood pressure and improve circulation, helps with eczema and psoriasis, rejuvenates the skin as well as firms, tones and smooths wrinkles, it fights free radicals, helps with menstrual cramps, UTIs , ulcers, bacterial wounds, can increase your metabolism, helps with sore muscles and here's the big one, it's anti-carcinogenic! So as I always tell you and will say again and again, the skin is the largest organ of the body why are we NOT using Carrot Seed Oil?
With knowing how many good things Carrot Seed Oil can do for your skin it should start to become a must for everyone. I can tell you that now I find it refreshing and it is very uplifting with my blends and creation.
For now...grab a carrot and chomp away, the real deal is very high in vitamin A and is great for your vision and liver. It does, as I mentioned before help to reduce the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. They are high in vitamins, minerals and fiber.
So keep your eyes peeled (ha) and be on the lookout for the Nosh Body Carrot Spritz. It will be added to my collection by mid May.
To Good Health,
If you're like me, you are probably somewhat a Zombie or as I say Momzombie.
They all say before having children, get your sleep now but honestly it's not like a bank account that you can stockpile and save and withdrawal from when you need replenishment. Then you end up crying your eyes out rocking your baby who won't sleep all night and needs to get fed every few hours and literally suck the life out of you. You think it's bad while you're in the thick of it and baby number two comes and has colic, and not regular colic but 8-12 hours a day or screaming, one who sleeps in 20-40 minute increments. You feel like you are barely going to survive. Then they get a little older and .....still no sleep! I cringe when I read the other moms posts on mom sites how amazing their kids sleep, eat everything you give them, never yell or talk back and are well hehaved, ok you're amazing and totally lucky. Those are the moms that look perky in the morning with Starbucks in hand walking into the preschool and you're a dissheveld mess with a cold cup of coffee sitting in the car that you lost 5 times this mornings while getting the kids ready, you're running in late with them pulling your hair and screaming.
Ok, so we can't fix all this and they grow up fast but while you're in the trenches you can try a few things to help you look and feel a little better.
The first question people always ask me is how do I look so young at almost 45 years old or how can they change their skin and make it look fresher or more alive. I'm not going to lie, some of it is lifestyle and some is genetics but there are other tricks. I'm the first one to say don't drink alcohol but I get it, some of you look forward to that glass of wine at the end of a long day. For those of you who need that, it's fine but you have to keep yourself balanced. 1 glass of wine, I say you need 12-16 oz of water to replace the hydration, if you have a second glass be ready to double up on the H2O. In general we all under drink water. Your body % varies a little in the amount of water it is made up of but safely it's around 70%. It is so easy throughout the long days we all have to run around using up enegry and grabbing lattes and diet cokes but less caffine more hydration. I'm guilty myself of getting a refresh on my "cold" cup to warm it before I head out the door but I do always remember my ginormous container that is 40oz filled with ice water before I run out the door and keep 2 steel cups that hold 30oz a piece to bed at night. I usually finishing one and sometimes moving on to the second one because yes, I wake up and drink water at night.
I'm not telling you to stay up all night drinking water but make sure you are drinking plenty and keeping fresh water with you all day.
I also love to spritz the skin with water in the day, naturally I use a special water that I make for myself and maybe down the road if I have people requesting I will put it out there but for now, you can use a small mist container and fill with fresh distilled water and if you have a favorite essential oil add a few drops. It’s a nice pick me up and it just feels good!
I can't help you with the amount of sleep but one trick I learned from my Shiseido rep, back in my Minnesota days, was to sleep on my back. This is harder than you think if you're a pillow hugger at night. I had been sleeping on my stomach forever and the thought of this boggled me. I use to wake up in the morning with bags under my eyes, pillow case creases on my face and a stiff neck. Changing that made a huge difference. I woke up more refreshed and looking better, the stiff neck thing....sadly I still have but oh well. I sometimes will lay on my side with my pillow between my knees but will flip to my back always with a pillow resting under my knees.
I hope you try this and see if this makes any changes in your skin. Sleeping on your face means you are rubbing, tugging and pulling the skin and getting friction on the face while and not get proper circulation to the skin, so overall it is just better for you.
Last but not least, MOISTURIZE your skin! I cannot believe how many people tell me they do not moisturize at all....EVER! I'm blown away by the amount of people who don't and do not properly take care of their face too. Ok, this is the same as drinking water. You need to hydrate your skin, period. I don't care what you choose to use but it needs a drink of water. If you don't moisturize and you look amazing, you are beyond blessed.
You hear me say all the time the skin is the largest organ right? You truly should be hydrating it twice daily, as well as your face. Your face is not excluded from hydration. You water your plants and if you don't what happens, they dry up. Sometimes you are able to save them by just adding water and they come back to life. Think of your skin as a plant, it can get dry and look lifeless if not taken care of. I will also tell you that protecting your skin from sun damage is important and taking precautions when you are outdoor as well as indoor from elements around you is important but lets start slow.
Wash your skin twice daily, I use my Nosh Body Gentle Wash because it’s so luscious and foamy, it’s infused with oatmeal and I love the way my skin feels. I use it on my face as well. After you was you should replace the moisture, at the very minimum. And please use one designed for your face and a different one for your eyes. Your eyes 100% need hydration as well and you do need to use a different cream for your eyes than for your face.
Why? Because the skin is extremely delicate around the eye area and if you use the wrong thing it will irritate your eyes. I have the most sensitive eyes and am very limited on what I can put around my eyes.
Everyone is different and we all have different skincare needs but the one thing in common we all have is we need to properly care for it. It's the only skin we have so do your best to take care of it.
On that note...I'm headed upstairs to remove my makeup (a must), take a shower and rehydrate.
So you know how to wash right, you have been doing it your whole life. I'm sure you've done it all too, bar soap, liquid soap, washcloths, loofas, scrubs, you name it....we've tried it. We feel that lather, the frothy feeling all over and the scent that stays with us after we get out and dry off, we are clean, we think we know this because we feel it and smell it and this is what we were taught.
As I have done a ton of research I have found so many things we thought we should feel or sense are so misleading. That maybe we aren't suppose to feel a soap make a lasting feeling of squeaky clean skin and smelling it after drying the skin.
When I was making NOSH BODY WASH had a lot of friends and local contacts to test products and give me feedback. One of the first things I heard is the foam doesn't work on my loofa or wash mitt. Ok, so some of you love your bath accessories but I'm here to tell you...loose them LOOSE the loofa, OMIT the Mitt. I'm sorry, the amount of bacteria and dead skin being held inside those things is really not good for you. Even if you clean them all the time, there are so many things in them...I could go on and on. If you feel you must use a wash cloth for dirty areas like the bottom of the kids feet to scrub a little harder please do not hang that back up to dry and reuse. Place it in the wash after each use to avoid bacteria. Is this causing extra laundry, what is a wash cloth a day in the grand scheme of things, and again that only if you must. The foam will soak right into the loofa or mitt and not actually get absorbed into the actual skin. You don't need use those accessories to get clean. Huffington Post ran an excellent article about bacteria in those types of things and this is not what we want to do, this is what we are trying to get away from. Things that are harmful to us.
What you need to do is gently exfoliate the skin a few times a week, wash first, turn the water off and scrub gently in circular motions going upward and moving towards the heart. Turn the water back on and gently rinse away. That is all you need to get the dead skin off, otherwise you are doing damage to the skin itself and you want to heal and nourish.
Now back to washing the skin. You should be using your good old hands, yes, what mother nature gave you to cleans the skin. The great thing with NOSH BODY WASH is it is safe to use on your face, naturally you do not wash your eyes with soap only around the eye area along the bone, but it is gentle enough for your whole body. I am actually able to wash both of my children hair with NOSH BODY WASH too. You should feel light and not a heavy feeling on the skin, a fragrance while you shower but not something that stays lasting after you pat your skin dry.
Did you catch that, pat. You pat the skin or gently use the towel and kind of squeeze the water off the top layer. Again, rubbing the skin and irritating the skin is not good for the skin. The skin is delicate and if you want it to look good you can't scrub and rub.
If you use NOSH BODY to exfoliate you may not feel the need to moisturize that day since it's very hydrating. If you are washing the skin with NOSH BODY you should feel lightly cleansed and refreshed all over, you may have a light linger of scent if you have an essential oil in your wash but it won't and shouldn't be strong and overpowering. It should give an uplifting feeling while you bathe.
I hope you enjoyed this and let me know your thoughts on this blog.
I'll be back soon to talk skin hydration and sleep.
Cheers to good health and good skin,
